BEING A GRAMMAR NAZI





GRAMMAR NAZI!!! I am sure most of the people must have come across this term preety often .But what exactly does this term mean.Grammar Nazis are referred to those people who constantly keep a check on your usage of Language and correct you whenever you go a bit awry.

So is it a good thing or a bad thing????

In the two schools of thought this has always been a topic of debate that weather being a Grammar Nazi is a good thing or a bad thing.Let us look at some of the pros and cons of it :-

ADVANTAGES-

1. For being a Grammar Nazi you yourself have to excel in that language first. This needs great in-depth study of the correctness,grammatization,pronunciation and loquaciousness of the language.

2. The other person gets to know his mistakes and can improve upon himself.

3. You gain in confidence on your communication skills which has a positive affect on your personality.

DISADVANTAGES-

1.Instead of interpreting the deep embedded meaning or emotions of the line you concentrate on its correctness therefore unable to understand the purpose of the message.

2. You may make some enemies as they might think you are too haughty and egoistic.

3.Psychologists have recognized a new type of  OCD(obsessive-compulsive disorder) called Grammar Pedantry Syndrome. It refers to people being obsessed by correct grammartization.

Some people are not even aware of the fact that they are suffering from this syndrome. They are unaware of the fact and think that such a thing is made up by people who are not good in grammer.

How to know whether you suffer from this syndrome??

Day to day analysis of yourself and your behavior can prove to be very effective in knowing about the syndrome. You can always take help of you're psychiatrist.There is nothing wrong or nothing to be ashamed in accepting the fact. 

 TEST-

1st line-pretty instead of preety
5th line-whether instead of weather
3rd point of advantages-effect instead of affect
last line in disadvantages-grammar instead of grammer
second last line-your instead of you're
